I am up late for the count tonight three o’clock they say which is very late for me the I will see if I have lost my deposit (I am expecting to!)  Either way I will not keep this blog going.  My personal blog is at  http://ecodiy-chrisjs.blogspot.com/  who knows, maybe you be curious enough to follow me there.  At this time I don’t know the outcome of the election, my only hope is for there not to be a Tory government, I care too much for the poor and powerless to with a conservative government on them (not to mention the disaster that a conservative government would be for the environment.

I was invited to a well organised ‘any questions’ last night in Frinton allong with (most of) the other election candidates.

I enjoyed the process.  The questions gave us candidates the chance to point up the differenceds between the parties over imigration, hung parliaments and the stress between the law on sexual discrimination and religious belief.  The BNP candidate didnt turn up and hasent been at any of the hustings I have been at.  I would have liked to talk more about the stupidity of our obsession with uncontroled growth and the impending crisis from peak oil production but time was short!

Immigration Confusion

April 30, 2010

As the parties fall over themselves to appease the current perceived public feelings on immigration.  No One mentions that in a few years the baby boom generation (of which I am a part ) will need workers to support them with taxes (the government has no ‘savings’ to pay our pensions with!) and with care.  The UK work force will have shrunk and without migrants to do the work we will be in a sorry state!

The US department of energy and Miletry Joint Forces comman have released a report which expects peak oil and subsiquent oil shortages in about 1.5 to 2 years see http://tinyurl.com/yc6hect

We need more primary production in the UK – not service industries.  To do that we need to support Technology colleges, create more  more apprenticeships, train more engineers,  subsidise more vocational courses in the latest building, plumbing and electrics technology.  We also need to create easier paths for entrepreneurs starting from the tiny-est part timer selling on eBay, simple systems of support that people can understand.

Tories plans for small government and giving power to local groups threaten  children rights and those who are sick, poor or uneducated.  Plans to allow groups of people to set up their own schools will allow those with extreme beliefs and agendas to slant children’s education – children have a right to a complete unbiased education.  Giving power over the police and health service to small local groups will allow them to pursue their own agendas at the expense of other minorities.

We have been hit by the ban on UK flights with my thirteen year old step daughter stranded in the USA and many third world workers are suffering as they are loosing their jobs in the food growing businesses.  But the dust cloud may have a silver lining! Maybe making people will think twice about the flights they take in the future and where their food is coming from.  perhaps this will boost British agriculture and holiday destinations.  We will see.

Tories plans to close thousands of Sure Start are a devastating blow to working families.

Daily Mirror and Guardian reports:

The party’s universities and skills spokesman David Willetts warned that only a few of the 3,197 centres would survive under David Cameron.

Sure Start was set up under Labour to help under fives from poor backgrounds.

But Mr Willetts said the Tories would limit them to only the most deprived areas in a plan to save an estimated £200million. He said: “Sure Start should go back to its founding principles of helping those families in great difficulties, not just become a children’s centre to help parents who are in work.”

By blocking the Educational Reform Act the Tories put the desires of parents before the rights of children to a complete unbiased education – shame!  This makes for a more divided society and damages the potential for children to develop into balanced intelligent adults.  There will be more unwanted pregnancies, more sexual disease and more religion intolerance as a result.
